10 Tips To Look Great|Media Makeup

Runway to Wardrobe wearing Ooby ryn

1. Brushes…you can’t do a professional job without good brushes baby, blending is where it is all at so arm yourself with a set of at least five tools of the trade minimum.

Bella Vi have smaller quality brush packs

2. Brows…that is where it is at this season nice big thick even hairy brows get some while you can or use a light brown eyeshadow to fill and extent yours out.  Use your tweezers and stay away from threading as they seem to over pluck on the top of the brow

3. Red lips…you just can’t beat them they suit everyone and always catch the eye, blue or orange tone either way just get the one that suits your skin tone best.

4. Smokey eye…suits everyone, black is good but you can try navy, purple, green, orange is huge this year pop it on your eye lid and blend it out, add whip of eye liner top and bottom and blend baby blend

5. Touch ups…if you want your makeup to stay on all day you must prep your skin, whether it be with an expensive primer or just a concealer and powder this will stop your makeup from literally slipping off your face from the oil being excreted from your skin.

6. Skin…good skin people, health, diet, exercise, water and sleep this is just the start of creating the perfect palette for your makeup to be applied and adhere to. Skincare should be natural and some of the New Zealand brands are Madeleine Ritchie   or Tea Tree Manor

7. Dual action…if your skin is good your tinted moisturiser can be used as a foundation as well, great for daytime when you don’t need a lot of coverage. I use the Garnier Tinted Moisteriser it is around $10 and it lasts for months and you can get it from the supermarket!

8. Fluffy brushes….I love this tip, use a fluffy eye liner brush instead of using a thin hard whisp of a brush to create a blended line instead of a hard thin line.

9. Fixer spray…yes it is another “add on” product but it is perfect for the day to night, or for night clubbing. You’ve done all of the hard work and you want it to stay that way fixer spray is a great way to achieve this. I like the MAC Fixer Spray but you can use a plaster spray from your local chemist

10. Fun…have fun with your makeup it does wash off so if you make a mistake you can always remove it. It is easier if you leave your foundation powder till the end then any fall out you create can be wiped away easily like an eraser and powder afterward.

If there are any products that you would like me to trial please simply leave a comment

You Hate Freckles?|Media Makeup

I am always highlighting the need for sun protection to my makeup talent especially the ones I worked with at Maori Television. Even if you have dark skin you will still require sun protection from sun damage caused by sun exposure.

My bets are on the fact that the majority of you who do not like your freckles do not use sunscreen, freckles are sun damage.
Then I see women using a thick foundation to cover up these freckles, it makes more sense to keep them at bay by protecting your skin from U.V.A.  & U.V.B. rays with a good sun screen.

If you are in the sun Summer or Winter between 11:00am and 4:00pm it is vital that you apply a sun screen 15 mins before you go out side, what ever sunscreen you use it will need to be applied every 2 -3 hours, and that product that is left over from last summer does have an expiry date.

Ash, Bianca & Rob. Bianca wearing Sheryl May

Enjoy the summer sun or your winter get away but remember that to much sun exposure and sun burn results in 300 people dying from melanoma each year in New Zealand and 2000 are diagnosed with it.

The intelligent person’s summer uniform will be long sleeved shirts, wide brimmed hats, sunglasses and some shade.
Be sun safe and slip, slop, slap

FREE Migun Massage|Media Makeup

Bianca Fallon|Media Makeup
Everyone loves a good massage and they don’t come cheap you could go to one of the numerous massage schools for a cheap fix but you have to book in and I was looking around for an affordable massage treatment, something accessible, quick and easy and the Migun Massage bed is what I found.
Migun means beautiful health and the Migun massage beds are unique, state of the art medical devices that uniquely integrate thousands of years of Eastern medical wisdom with Western medical technological advancements to improve overall heath and function.
Internationally recognized in the field of alternative health care through the combined principles, medical techniques and technology Migun massage beds have become one of the fastest growing alternative medicine companies in the world.

There is huge growth for alternative treatments such as acupuncture and massage therapy for the relief of various medical conditions such as pain, inflammation and neurological problems as people shy away from medication and it’s side effects and we look to improve the overall function of our bodies.

Migun specialises in

  • Thermal infrared massage sessions
  • Sports massage
  • Reflexology
  • Spinal decompression
  • Chiropractic care
  • Acupressure
  • Moxibustion
  • Holistic health and wellness therapies.

In 1988, Migun Massage was one of the first companies to patent and introduce a thermal massage system and is now in 39 countries with 28 million uses world wide introduced to New Zealand in 2007.

The bed that I first tried out is the Migun Thermal Massage System (HY-7000) and it represents a fusion of acupressure, acupuncture, heat-therapy (moxibustion), chiropractic, and massage manipulation (Chuna of Korea, Shiatsu of Japan and chiropractic of USA) with a value of $4,500 so you know that you are receiving quality.

It is a warm bed that you lie on, with your clothes on, and a blanket is put over you, if you feel like snuggling. Soothing music lulls you into meditation while you lie back for 35mins of deep massage, I even heard someone snoring at one session!Your own body weight puts pressure on the massage heads that provide electronic heating with Helium-Jade stones that produce far infrared rays (remember those in the last LPG Endermology Sauna blog?) penetrating the surface of the body, so that the mechanical massage probes compress your autonomic nervous system and capillary blood vessels of the neck, thorax, lumbar spine and sacral region of the pelvis. These mechanical Helium-Jade massage probes continually run up and down the full length of the bed, one from the waist to your feet and another from your waist up to the top of your head running along your spine and pressure points, along the bottom and side of the hamstring muscles of the thighs which enhances the blood circulation in the lower limbs. When you go into your local Migun Massage shop explain to the friendly staff what you health issues you are experiencing and they will adjust the bed to suit your body requirements as there are a number of heat settings and movements so you need to find the right setting for your individual needs.I like my settings up on the highest temperature with the deepest massages resulting in a feeling relaxation with a reduction in my muscle tightness and tension. I had knots in my shoulder area and they were reduced and I have even heard my back “click” into place! If you have had a stressful day this is the place to come because you cannot help but relax in this environment and you will leave with a smile on your face.
